さかなと海：Fish & KAI

 

Montereyに住んでいた時はモントレー水族館へ、Fairfaxに住んでいた時には、Academy of Scienceへ行って、いつも魚を眺めていました。

When we lived in Monterey, we were the members of Monterey Bay Aquarium. In Fairfax, we were the members of Academy of Sciences. So, since Kai was a baby, we often times took him to see fishes.

 

 

 

 

父が魚釣りが好きなので、一緒に釣りに行くこともありました。

Because I love fishing, I took Kai to go to fishing too.

Fairfaxのアパートには２００リットルの水槽を部屋に置いて、おさかなを飼っていました。

In Fairfax, we had a 50gal fish tank!!

2010年、香港へ引っ越しました。

Then, we moved to Hong Kong.

………….

 

香港は海の幸に恵まれているので、本格的な釣りを始め、海も初めて魚を釣り上げました。

 

街市では、いつも飛び跳ねる魚たちを眺めます。

 

先日、またしてもゴミ捨て場で、水槽を拾いました！

 

これから、おさかなプロジェクトの始まりです！

Let’s begin a fish project!!

Banana Project #1: Finding Banana Tree バナナの木を探して。

When I arrived Hong Kong, I noticed that there were a lot of Banana trees here.

But, I was not sure where we could have access to the Banana trees. A lot of times, the Banana trees were in a private property or a farm, so we could not see, touch, smell, and feel (and taste?) the tree.

As a first movement as our Banana Project, we walked around. And we have been finding some locations for easy “Banana Tree” access, such as Nam Sang Wai, Ha Pak Nai, and so on.

香港に着いてから、バナナの木があちらこちらにあることに気が付きましたが、その多くが個人の所有地であったり、畑であったりして、なかなかバナナの木に近づくことが出来ませんでした。 そこで、バナナ・プロジェクトの第一歩として、近所を散策して回りました。 その結果、南生圍や下白泥などで実際に手で触れることが出来るバナナの木を発見しました♪

 

It was a surprise for us to see Banana flower.

バナナの花を見つけては、驚いていました。

 

 

Also, at the wet market, we could find many different types of Banana.

And, we tasted them♪

また、街市にて、いろんな種類のバナナを見つけることも出来ました。

もちろん、食べ比べをしました♪

Light Table：ライトテーブル

We used to play with a lot of different kinds of lights: the Sun light, candle light, flash light, day light, night light, Christmas light, reflection light, etc.

One of our favorite one was light table.

 

以前は、いろんな光を使って遊んでいました：お日様の光、ロウソクの光、懐中電灯の光、昼間の光、夜の光、クリスマスライト、反射した光、などなど。

そのなかで、一番のお気に入りはライトテーブルでの遊びでした。

When we moved to Hong Kong, we had to make another one.  This time, we made an instant light table with a coffee table.  Put a white paper on the top of the table, which is a glass top, so the light can go through. And then, we put a fish tank light underneath. That’s all !!

香港に引っ越したので、新しいテーブルを作らないといけませんでした。 今回は、コーヒーテーブルをインスタントライトテーブルとして使うことにしました。 ガラスのテーブルに白い紙を敷いて、下から水槽用のライトを照らす。 それだけです。

 

 

Right away, we used it for drawing.

さっそく、お絵かきに使ってみました。

ライトがあるのと無いので、ずいぶんと印象が変わります。   

The next day, we put sea-glass on the table, then we changed paper. Now, Kai started using a hole punch. It’s just simple activity, but Kai spent about two ours happily making holes. He found that he could make a lot of different shapes with a hole punch.

次の日、ライトテーブルにシーグラスを乗せてみました。 その後、テーブルトップの紙を張り替えて、ホールパンチを使うことにしました。 とてもシンプルな活動ですが、海は２時間ほど楽しそうに続けました。 この遊びの中で、海は１つの穴を開けるホールパンチで、いろんな形を作れることを発見しました。
