報告(Report)：First5 MARIN, Breakfast (San Rafael, CA)

今日は、First5 Marin の朝食会に行ってきました。

This morning, we went to the First5 MARIN, Breakfast.

First5 と言うのは、０歳～５歳の子ども、その家族をサポートしよう！とアメリカ全域で活躍されてる公共の団体で、そのマリン郡支部の年次総会のようなものが、今日の朝食会でした。

First5 is an organization that supports children (0 to 5) and their family in the nation. This breakfast was their 9th annual conference. 

 

↑このどこかで見かけたようなロゴの団体です。 主に、資金集め・資金提供・政治的なバックアップや調査などをされています。 具体的に言うと、昨年度、First5 MARINは以下のようなサービスを行ったそうです。

• ７６７人の子どもたちが無料で歯科検診を受診。
• ２１８人の子どもたちの歯の治療費を負担。
• １２３８人の子どもたちへ健康保険の補助。
• １５４人の無保険の子どもの治療費を援助。
• １２２６人の子どもたちの発達障害チェックを無料で実施。
• ３９３人の子どもたちへ発達障害に対するケアを無料で提供。

The logo you see above is the symbol for First5. You saw it somewhere, right? They do fundraising, funding, political action and research. In the detail, First5 MARIN did those things last year,

• 767 children received free oral health screenings.
• 218 children were referred for dental treatment.
• 1238 children received assistance enrolling in healthcare.
• 154 uninsured children had their health insurance premiums paid.
• 1226 children were screened for developmental delays.
• 393 children received intervention for developmental delays.

朝食会では、特に MomsRising.org の創設者、Joan Bladesさんが来て、プレゼンテーションをされました。

Joan Blades, the co-founder of MomsRising.org had a presentation.

『MomsRising.org』 と言うのは、

• 育児・出産有給休暇制度の導入
• 病欠有給制度の確立
• 毒性の高いものを市場から無くす事
• 男女間の給与差別の解消 （アメリカでは、全く同じ仕事内容・学歴などでも、女性の給料は常に２０～３０％くらい低いそうです。）
• 国民健康保険の成立
• 保育・幼児教育の充実
• etc

などを『国の制度として成立する！』ことを目指してみんなで頑張ろう！ っていう団体だそうです。 現在、民主党・共和党の垣根を超えて、純粋にアメリカ中のお母さん・お父さんたちがインターネットを通じて集まり、政治的に訴えるロビー活動をされているそうです。

“MomsRising.org” is an organization to solve those issues we all are facing,

• Paid Family Leave
• Paid Sick Days
• Toxics
• Fair Pay
• Healthcare
• Early Learning/Childcare
• etc

So far, no matter Republic or Democrat, the mothers and the fathers from whole nation are gathering in MomsRising, and talking and lobbying in many different places.
